HISTORY

First Scottish began life back in 1987 as a subsidiary of First National Bank to undertake Searches on behalf of the Bank. From 1989 onwards, this service was extended to solicitors. In 2000, a management buy-out was negotiated which resulted in the Searching company being a stand alone company.

In January 2001, First Scottish founded a start-up company called The Legal Post (Scotland) Limited. This is a secure document exchange system with a network throughout Scotland. This operation also had the backing of The Law Society of Scotland who have a 20% stake in the business.

In 2002 First Scottish believed the time was right to further enhance it’s Searching business to include Local Authority Searches and Property Enquiry Certificates in it's portfolio.

In 2004 a Document Storage company was acquired enabling the Group to offer clients a wide range of document management solutions including box storage, digital scanning, remote digital archiving and a secure document destruction service.

A natural development for the Group was to offer clients a mail service to sit alongside Legal Post.  This saw the creation of First Post in 2008.  First Post can deliver to all UK postal addresses and international destinations but for 40% less than Royal Mail.
